When you have a home-based business time management is a must.
There are so many things that can distract you being at home. You need
to stay focused and on task to get everything you need to get done
completed.
Prioritizing daily tasks is key to successful time management. When you prioritize, you make sure you accomplish the most important tasks first. Make time management a habit.
Every day you need to make a list of what needs to get done. Set a time frame for each and allow some time for interruptions. You have to be realistic. Throughout the day you have interruptions and we need to schedule that throughout your day. If you don't get interrupted during one of your projects maybe you will be able to bump up the other projects and finish early for the day.
As you finish each project on your list cross it off. It gives you a sense of accomplishment. Sometimes something as simple as this can keep you motivated.
If you are a person that just needs to slowly work themselves into the day start with the easy tasks first like checking your E-mail, replying to E-mails, return phone calls, etc. Work on the easier projects until you are ready to start working on the more time consuming projects.
Make sure you delegate some of the other to-do-things (ex. cleaning, shopping, laundry, cooking, etc.) if at all possible. This will keep you more focused on what you are working on. Many people focus on what needs to be done outside of work and can't concentrate on what they are working on for their business.
Knowing the other things outside of your business are getting done, it will put your mind at ease and will allow you to focus on what you are working on, not to mention keep your stress level down.
Have a board set up in your work area. Set goals for yourself and have them on your board. It will help motivate you. You can even have the words "time management" on the board for a constant reminder to help make that be part of your every day thing. Time management could be one of the main factors whether you fail in your business or are extremely successful.
So, spend some time and start listing what your day consists of and start making a daily to do list for your business and watch and see just how much more you get done!
